Love Song

I wrote this melody some years ago but had not given it any words. Recently, I decided to give it words but needed a 6/8 song to help me. Then I remembered having Beethoven's folksong settings on CDs. One was a poem by Robert Burns. I dug it out and it got me thinking.

Here are the poem's first four lines:
Behold, my love, how green the groves,
The primrose banks how fair,
The balmy gales awake the flowers
And wave thy flaxen hair.
To honour Burns for his inspiration, I used the poem's first two lines to start my song and then was on my own.
